A PASSION FOR SHAPES AND COLORS
My name is Paula Bouffard. I am a textile designer and a maker. Art and craft have always been a part of who I am. For as long as I can remember, I have been knitting, painting and making. I founded Touche textile as a creative outlet soon after I moved to the Gulf region. I now share my work under my own name.
In my textiles, I print my designs by hand, dye using plants, sew, quilt and weave. I also still occasionally knit. Combining different techniques allows me to maintain a low waste textile studio.
For my illustrations and surface work, I mostly collage, draw, and paint. I love working both traditionally and digitally. Materials and surfaces are central to my process and are part of a larger conversation between shapes, colors and textures.
My aesthetics is deeply rooted in the majestic nature of my homeland, Quebec, Canada. My designs are also inspired by my exposure to other places, especially Morocco and Turkey where I have family, and Qatar where I currently live.
I enjoy creating small, bespoke collections of prints and textiles. I welcome commission work and collaborations.
